VerbaLive Privacy Policy

VerbaLive ("we", "us") provides real-time AI translation of live speech at events. This policy explains what data the VerbaLive app and website (verba.im / app.verba.im) collect and how it is used.

1. Listeners (attendees)

• No account required. Listeners join an event with a code or QR. We create an anonymous Firebase identifier on the device to authorize the audio connection. It is not linked to your name, email or phone.
• Camera is used only to scan the event QR code, on device. No images are stored or transmitted.
• Audio. Listeners only receive audio. The app never records or transmits the listener's microphone.
• Preferences (last event code, chosen language, subtitle size) are stored locally on the device.

2. Organizers and operators

• Account data: email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and email those providers share. Stored in Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication).
• Event data: event and room names, languages, schedule, and usage minutes for billing.
• Speaker audio. When an operator starts a broadcast, the microphone or line input selected by the operator is streamed to our servers, translated by an AI speech model (Google Gemini Live API; alternatively OpenAI Realtime API) and streamed to listeners. Audio is processed in real time and not stored by VerbaLive. Third-party AI providers process audio under their own API terms and do not use it to train models under the paid API terms.
• Transcripts. Text transcripts of the translated speech are stored per event so the organizer can download a report. Organizers can delete an event, which deletes its transcripts.

3. Notice to event attendees

Speech in rooms served by VerbaLive is transmitted to an AI translation service. Organizers are responsible for informing speakers and attendees, and for complying with local recording and consent laws (including Ley 18.331 in Uruguay and GDPR where applicable).

4. Service providers

• Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting) — Google LLC
• Google Gemini API (speech translation) — Google LLC
• OpenAI API (fallback speech translation) — OpenAI, L.L.C.
• LiveKit (real-time audio delivery), self-hosted by VerbaLive

5. Retention and deletion

Anonymous listener identifiers expire with the app data. Organizer accounts, events and transcripts are kept until the organizer deletes them or requests deletion by email. Usage records needed for billing are kept for 5 years as required by accounting law.

6. Children

VerbaLive is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal data.
